The Landlady gives both perspectives throughout the book of how a young, male college student paid for his dorm room. The older woman and the attractive premed student had an arrangement that satisfied more needs than either expected. Janice had already had a few University students rent out rooms in her house. She typically had three rooms rented out for the whole year but it was the one special room she took the greatest care in "renting" out. This was the room that had last been occupied by Javier and he was very skilled at paying his rent just the way Janice liked it to be paid. Sadly, Javier was now gone and it was time to find an able-bodied replacement. Jack, the medical student would be that and more, also meeting Janice's every need. Jack really knew how to take care of things around the house, especially Janice. She simply could not get enough of him.
